The only help I can offer, is to tell you about what I've seen up here
when the rednecks hold their annual festival which includes truck
pulling. There are local guys and guys that travel the circuit that
compete.
There's any and all kinds of trucks that enter the competition.
Anything from old beater rust bucket farm rigs to the dragster looking
rail trucks with twin motors and blowers.
If you can't find one of those rail pulling trucks, you can always customize a pickup kit.
Lower the front a little and add weight blocks.
Raise the rear and hang a tow chain from frame rail to frame rail.
Add a dash mounted tach.
Increase the horsepower.
Carve the threads in the tires.
Don't go past the redline.
Start in 2nd gear.
And let her rip!
Oh yeah, you should have a driveshaft safety hoop and a tranny blanket, mud flaps optional.
