1968 Chevy El Camino Help

Can anyone tell me the best and easiest way to remove paint from my car with out hurting the plastic? The base is Enamel silver. I then airbrushed acrylic transpartent orange. It came out great. But I screwed it up trying to apply chrome bare metal foil. I want to reshoot it again since I have put some time into the suspention and motor. Your comments are greatly appriciated. I will post some pics of what I have so far soon. Once I figure how to do it.
