Yeah, they just don't make them (the movies) like they used to.  As a youngster I was a fan of the comic series "Michel Vaillant", when the movie came out a couple of years ago, I was really excited that is ; till I saw the mounstrosity they turned it into, what a disappointement that was.

As for "Le Mans", wow, I don't even remember when I saw it for the last time....

Great movie.......REAL race cars travelling at REAL race car speeds........

I really want to make a model of the GT40 camera car that they cut the roof off of.....THAT would make a great diorama.

Cheers, LeeTree

Mate,

I went to see it a couple of times when it came out (that makes me ancient!) and had only seen a

couple of odd bits since. However, I then found out it was on DVD & made sure I got it for Christmas! I'm a Steve McQueen fan anyway. I always thought the bit in the funfair slowed the whole thing down.

I agree about the 917's. Oddly it's only the short tail ones for me. The long tails don't have the same visual appeal for some reason.

Maybe it's because it's slightly ahead of Grand Prix equipment wise? Grand Prix seems to be from before the safety issues broke out, so driver safety aids don't seem to be much advanced on those of the 30's. Whereas in LeMan's, the kit doesn't seem so 'oldfashioned' and could be from a couple of years ago.

All the best

Pete

Hi all

Fox showed the movie last night - haven't seen it for AGES. It's a tight call, but I'd say it would be slightly ahead of Grand Prix as the best racing movie ever made. Very realistic. Makes me want to go build a Gulf Porsche 917.
