Here is a '62 Pontiac I just finished.  I really like this AMT kit, great detail and very nice fit. I built this one box stock with the exception of the 8 lug wheels.  These are some wheels I cast in resin.  The exterior paint on this is a mix of Testors square bottle light yellow and MM Classic white.

Hope you like this build.

WOW, that yellow paint job looks terrific. what color is it? Is that the Boyd luma yellow? If I remember correctly the 62 was the first year for the Grand Prix. I do remember there was a 389 with tri-power option, but do not remember a duel quad set up. Is the duel quad a stock set up or is it custom. I'm guessing your Bonniville is a Grand Prix based upon the wheels, is it?

What can you tell us about the kit?

Again, congrats on a super job.

This is a fairly recent release of an AMT '62 Catalina kit.  I have seen the kit in both custom and stock.  This build is the stock kit.  I have not seen inside of the custom kit.  This is a very nice kit to build, the detail is super and the fit and detail is great.  Everything you see on this kit is box stock except the wheels.  The wheels were cast from originals out of the AMT 65 Grand Prix, also available in the Bonneville.  The paint is a mix of Testors Light Yellow and Classic White.  I only remember a tri power and a single four barrel, but this kit came with the dual quad setup and the fuel lines and looked great so I used them.  The kit comes with small dog dish hubcaps and blackwalls.  I painted the whitewalls and added the 8 lugs.  I also built one some time back and used the dog dish caps, but painted it a dark red mettalic.  You can see it and some of my other builds on my website listed below.

Interesting that the paint looks so good.  I just put that on with an airbrush, no buffing or polishing.  That is the way it laid down.  I had been playing with some Plasti-Kote Lacquer that takes a lot of work to bring up the gloss or you have to clear coat it, but this stuff goes down so nice and no work or clear coat to bring up a gloss.  I will probably stick with the good old Terstors paints.
