Revell PT Cruiser and 41 Willys Kits (Photos)
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, May 13, 2006 12:09 AM

The last two models I did have been specifically built to be Radio Control Models. The first one I did was built using the Revell’s SnapTite Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible, and the second one I chose to build was of Revell’s 1941 Willys Street Rod kit.

The PT Cruiser being a SnapTite kit naturally it went together fairly easy but because it was destine to end up being an RC Car I put it together using Super Glue’s Model and Hobby Cement that comes in a tube and is sold at the 99 cent only store. I used the glue on all of the joints so it would stay together when the model was being driven on rougher surfaces like asphalt driveways or Cement Sidewalks. Anyway here are a couple of the photos of the PT Cruiser while it was being built and then a couple from when it was done. The last photo is the photo I used to enter the model into an online contest for radio control cars of which I won the contest for the month of October of 2005. The biggest bummer with using a model to build the RC models is that I don’t use all of the parts that come in the kits.

This photo shows how the underbody fits over the chassis and the body fits over the underbody.

This photo shows what the chassis looks like before the radio gear was installed.

The photo on the left shows the inside of the body where the electronics goes. You can see how the batteries are placed.

This photo is of the back of the car with the tail lights glowing.

This one is of the side of the car before the electronics were added.

This is of the finished chassis with the body in the back which shows how the wiring for the head and tail lights were installed.

This photo below is the picture that I won the October 05 Car of The Month Car Show at www.AtomicMods.com

******************************

The second Radio Control Model I built was this 41 Willys. The only thing I didn't like about building this Revell Willy kit into a RC Car was that I wanted to build the interior of the car too but I was not able to because that is where the radio equipment goes. Oh well, I've got a lot of part left over from the kit,, Does anyone need some parts for a 41 Willys interior? :)

This one is of the car after it had been clear coated and was place on the back of this Ford Flatbed Transporter that is a product of Dub City Diecast. I liked the color of the truck and that is what made me build the Willys so it would fit on the back of the truck so I bought it before I had the Willys kit.

Anyway, I thank you all for taking time to check out my RC models.
