intrduction Model Automotive Artisian
Posted by modelmaker on Monday, July 10, 2006 1:42 AM

Hi all  my name is Sean and i'm a Model Automotive Artisian from Australia .I've been lurking in the back ground for a while now and thought it about time I join as a member.

My modelling interests include large scale Classic Cars and Motorcycles but I haven't seen to much of that matter on this site, but I'm about to change that .

The models I build are all scratchbuilts using mediums such as Brass, copper, Aluminium, acrylic etc, before starting to build my modelling subjects I first have to find a real 1/1scale subject , then I measure the entire thing down to the last nut and bolt , and take a couple hundred photos with my digital camera, I then draw the  design and mesurements onto cad. then I can start building my models!

Everything on my models are hand fabricated by either lathe , milling and hand beating metal body parts for anyone interested drop me a line and I'll post some pics , this is a plastic modeling forum after all so I don't to put people off I'm working on some MV125 motorcycles at the moment !

Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the forums! Pull up a keyboard and stay a while.

Post pics anyhow, this is a modeling website first and foremost. FSM even ran an article a while back about a guy who builds scale aircraft in aluminum/aluminium using the milling equipment he had. We also use photo etched brass, so post away!

So long folks!

Sean,
G'day, mate.  Welcome to the forum..........where are you located?  Vic, NSW, Qld, SA?
I'm an engineer and always enjoy miniature engineering using machine tools.
Got any pics of your work?  I'd love to see it.

Cheers, LeeTree

Hi and thanks for the wonderful comments As I said in my last posting I no longer build plastic kits all the pictures you see apart from the MV 125 motorcycles are all old builds the MVs I'm working on at the moment are to 1/5th scale and are built entirely from mediums such as brass and Aluminium .

I love the old motorcross bikes you talk about and have given some thought to a run of early motorcross bikes in the past I will post more pics of the progress of the MVs as time goes by !

I'm going to be building a run of 6 only Repco BT 24 Brabhams to 1/8th scale That I have had in the planning stages after very lengthly negotiations with the Brabham family! all these minatures will be entirely scratchbuilt with fully detailed engines chassis suspension and removable body panels, pretty much the same level of details as the MVs.
