Nice job Matt - I like the dirt on the tyres.   This must be one of the longest running kits that's still going strong - everyone loves it (!?)

I've done it three times now - the last ten years ago - and intend to do again as Birkin's #9 car with a wheel conversion sometime in the future after I've tried the 1/24 Heller version.

Here she is ten years old and still in one piece - just!

I have to admit although not one of the best kits I've ever done the finished result was supurb.

I also used the kit as a basis for my 3D model...

leemichealtree all my models are produced in Cinema 4D, not a widely known package but it's reasonably priced, easy to learn and produces reasonable results.

Guys, your work here is beautiful! I built (lovingly) that 1/12th Bentley twenty, perhaps twenty-five years ago. I've just ordered one online to do it all again. At that time of building, i was able to get a small electric motor--presumably designed with that model in mind as (so far as i recall) the 9v battery sat in the trunk or fuel tank or something. I wonder is that still available..... thanks for reminding me of just how lovely a hobby this was...and will be again. jn

Hi, I have just broken the habit of a lifetime and bought a car. Until now my entire collection has been made up 100% of 1:24 trucks and trailers.  Having followed this thread and always had a passion for the Blue Ribbon 3 Litre Bentley`s upwards, I couldn`t resist buying one.   It`s the Heller 1:24 Bentley blower and it`s in pristine condition with unopened factory wrapping. In fact it looks too good to open LOL.   So here is a question for anyone. There is currently on eBay the same model 1:24 by UNION.   The box top shows it finished in black.    Union is a name I haven`t heard of before.  Is it a good kit?  Any views would be greatfully received ,as always.   Jim    (PS  There are only four days to go.  LOL)

Spitfire321 - Hi - Unfortunately I can't answer your question in full (although I'm sure someone else will) regarding the Union kit.    I've seen this kit too on ebay in the past but never in the flesh - from other experience of Union kits (a GT40 and a P4 Ferrari) they seem to be of pretty high quality (both those mentioned had working suspension for example).   The Bentley one seems to be a rare kit apparently based around the 'black'  (actually VERY dark green) Birkin car from the look of it and if you can get it at a price agreeable to you I'd go ahead.

The Heller kit you have was also marketed by Humbrol and seems in every way to  be a half size replica of the larger Airfix kit, except for the wheels which have the brake drums moulded in.   I have the Humbrol version unstarted but in my case have examined the contents - it's very impressive and should turn out a great model but I'm a little torn between building and holding onto an increasingly rare item.

Hope this helps a little

Cheers

Hi Martin,  Thanks a lot for the info.    I`m going to have a go bidding for the Union kit (no bids so far) and hope to win it.    If I`m lucky I`ll let you know how I rate it.   Trouble with eBay is that nothing is certain until the last second has passed.    I`ve lost out to loads of automatic bidding progs recently.  Jim

OK fine - hope you get it and look forward to hearing what it's like.   One thing about ebay is that if you loose out, patience usually brings up the same thing again that you can sometimes get cheaper.

I usually set an auto-snipe up nowadays to what I want to pay - if it goes higher too bad - like London buses there'll be another one along soon.

Jim - what a shame!   I did the same thing with a Bugatti T55 last week - missed it for 50p.

C'est la vie!

I have just been fortunate enough to secure my third kit of this magnificent model.  They are all in 1:24 scale and made by Revell, Midoury and Heller.

There is currently a hand-made version on eBay(UK) with a `Buy it Now` price of ------ wait for it !!!!!

£10,000 (not a misprint , Ten Thousand pounds). As you can imagine, it looks rather special.   Jim

Jim - There's obviously been a heck of a lot of work gone into that model but this guy has to got to be either joking or an eternal optimist surely!!

What is the Midory kit like by the way?   I bid for an 8C Alfa 2300 some time ago and missed it so have never seen one but remember the box art looked pretty impressive.

P.S.    The ebay reference for the Bentley Jim is talking about is

Martin,  It looks quite impressive and plenty of detailing.  Obviously we`ll need to see what the fit is like when assembling it.    As I said before, I`ve only built 1:24 trucks so far, so the Bentley is going to be a first for me.  Jim

Hi Rc,   Is that avatar your workbench or a hobby store? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg].   Don`t hold your breath with the Bentley.  It`s in a que, behind a Peterbilt, another fire truck and a scratch build low-loader.

Ha,ha.. Yes Jim, thats my work bench with only 1/3rd of the kits on top of it that it has now!.. Hope your pushing the Low Loader up front of the rest of your future projects....Your going to give it a go at building one huh? It will be a fun project to follow as your cutting and sawing the plastic for it.....Hope you take lots of pictures so I/we can watch and see how your building it.....AMC has a 'Great Dane Extendable Heavy Duty Flatbed Trailer' {Construction/Heavy Equipment} (reading whats on the Box) that would be perfect to scratchbuild into a lowboy/lowloader.....I have one here, from my closet, I'm looking at, reading the instructions on how it's built...It has the Chrome California wheels, Spare tire, and Sliding front end that could be cut and dropped in front and back too.. But!... Its in 1/25th scale...You'd have to buy a 1/25th scale 3 axle Tractor to match it up too..  ... Okay have fun and I'll be watching for it......                         "RC"

Jim take another look at it mate it started life as a Wait for it !!!! 1/12th scale Airfix blower kit  and sure all the components were machined metal but they were all totally inaccurate and out of proportion !

And for that money which by the way Calculates to wait for it !!!! $25,000.00 Australian dollars !!!

Fine Art models from the USA offer totally hand built Accurate Alfa and Bugatti 1/8th scale models in metal for $8000.00 US dollars no comparison now they are a special model that guy offering that Bentley Botch up is a dreamer !!!

i am 13 years old and have just bought a 1:12 scale bentley supercharge. i have built the engine and are about to start the fuel tank.100 gallons!!! is the model really quite hard to build or is it just very dominating? i have made 19 other airfix models but this is my first big model and from the box it looks like it is going to be fabulous.

Hi Parsley,  The four different Blowers that I have built are all 1:24 scale, so I can`t advise on how difficult yours will be at 1:12.  I`d love to see a photo though when you have completed it.
