Turbine Car
Posted by Bones-coa on Thursday, August 21, 2003 10:30 PM
I have a 1/25 scale Chrycler Turbine Car made by a company called Jo-Han. I was wondering if this was considered a particulalry rare kit or anything.

Dana,

See if you can find a copyright date on the box or the instruction sheet. If memory serves, the original Jo-Han Turbine was issued in the late Sixties. Check eBay and do a search on the kit. eBay is a good real-time indicator of what the kit will go for. I use it a lot for an idea of what some of my older kits are worth. Hope this helps.

I looked on the box and instructions and saw no date. However, unless it's a reissue, I can say it is a sixties kit just by the box art and instructions. Only one problem with the kit though: the body parts have been painted. The rest of the kit is untouched and still on the sprees. Thanks for the info Hoser.

If the kit has the turbine with the hood that opens it is an older issue 60-70s
If I recall correctly most of the early 60's issues box tops
have a car side view on the bottom area with a turbine on the upper left
In case you are not aware of it and you have a non opening hood version
Johan just reissued that version without the turbine or opening hood
thanks

The full detail version was last released in 1993 or 94. I built one at that time. Johan plans to reissue it again once the molds are cleaned up.

I have (I presume) one of the re-issues. I assume it was re-issuer with the bronze/gold coloured plastic. The box is pretty much identical to the style that Jo-Han released in the sixties. It was unusual for Jo-han in that the model had opening hood and doors.

Sorry, I had been after the model since it was released in the '60's (having bought a number of Jo-Han models then) and have no desire to sell it. I managed to see it advertised on a UK Web site a while ago. Also bought the Revell '58 Skyliner (re-issue I presume) at the same time (the one with the folding roof).
