White on Tires?
Posted by Striving on Sunday, August 20, 2006 2:04 PM
Just wondering what paint is good to use to paint the logos/markings on rubber tires? In the old days I used testors, but it seems to never dry. Whats the best way to do this?
Thanks all.

Hey Bruce, I'm an old Testor fan from way back also. I found using my wifes hair drier on the really thin coat helps some.

She has the type with one of those fold out stands, so I just turn it on and forget about the tires while they toast on low heat for awhile LOL. The paint can still rub off so be careful. I understand if you spray a coat of clear over it that when done that helps some. I'll be trying that soon.

Cool, thanks. I did some searching and also saw some say to use Acrylics. That they dont stay as wet on the rubber. I'm gonna give that a try too.

Appreciate the feedback.

Try Whiteout.  I always prefer to find the brands with a sponge applicator. There are also some brands with brush type applicators and some guys I know uses the pen type  Some friends use a tooth pick to apply it with.. Either way or type container, if you goof up you can just wash it off with water as soon as you goof, let the tire dry, and do it again. You can do this either before or after it is mounted on the painted rim.   Practice makes perfect

You might try this!!!

My wife does tole painting and uses a brand called Delta Ceramcoat.

It is an acrylic paint, washes up easy, covers great and usually covers in one coat.

It can be found in most craft stores(Michaels,AC moore,HLS,ETC)

I think they even have it at Wal-mart.

It can be had in about 200 colors

Hope this helpsSmile [:)]
