57 Fairlane.. Firecrackers anyone?
Posted by Striving on Sunday, August 20, 2006 7:00 PM
OK, this kit I finished because it was a mission. Haahaa. Had this thing for about 8 years. Started then left it sit. In that time, one of the A beams (left front) had broke off. I did my best to fix it. I also stripped the paint that was originally on it (was Teal Metallic, Pine-sol did the trick.). This model had a lot of issues. So I went the way of a junker type.

I promise my future ones wont be so bad. Figured I would show it for the heck of it. Still have a couple things to touch up. Including some Dullcoat on the interior and some door handles/emblem painting.

Cool Kit though, opening doors, hood and turning front wheels. Its the AMT 57 Fairlane 500 kit.
OK, now who has the fire crackers?? ;-)

Nah, no firecrackers. Save it for something to compare your future builds to. Looks ok to me. Looks like a rockabilly street rodder in progress.........................stayCool [8D]

Hey Guy,  Ouststanding model!!!! . I thought I was the only one who built these. Have you seen the old movie 'Thunder Road."  Looks to me like you built an excellent example of moonshine runner.. After having watched movie several times, the only suggestion I have is you could repaint wheels flat black or gray also to be less visible in the dark. You got the big block motor under the hood right?? I believe your car would make an excellent theme type entry in a contest or show.

Wasjr,
Thanks man. Ya know. Black or grey on the rims may look cool. I might see whats up with that look. And I haven't seen that movie but I will be sure to check it out. As for the engine. I actually went stock. DOH!. Thanks again for the comments and ideas.
