Well VA, I'll gladly add my
worth!
First, I hope you're talking about automotive model aftermarket company sites.
The second idea will end up with tons of links.
I'm in the process of opening a small mom & pop hobby shop in NH
and then an online catalog/shoping cart. But I was thinking of doing
something similar, pics of the real cars (interior & exterior),
basic production info, available factory colors for the year, etc. What
I think would work best, supply that info on site and not just links to
hundreds of other sites.
I have another idea I would like to throw at you if you don't mind.
AMT has a small history of some of their older releases. I think it
would be a nice idea if Revell did one better. Keep an on going online
catalog, with pictures and release dates so collectors can look up
older kits. Even though I'm opening a hobby shop, my son and I are into
certain types of car kits (muscle cars mostly) and collect them when we
come across them. You'd be surprised how many people actually are
looking for the older kits that build stock. Hint hint
Another idea for the website is maybe include a picture of the model
box. Some people visit Revell's website and then shop at their local
department stores, such as kids with their parents. Maybe list the
recommended paint colors as are listed on the box. I know I'm
suggesting a lot of information be posted, but I think that would
really make Revell stand out even more over other model companies. I'm
not saying they don't now, just going that little extra I think would
make a big difference to some visitors.
Just my thoughts.
