1971 Mustang Fastback
Posted by coldwar68 on Thursday, August 31, 2006 9:43 AM
Hi Everybody, I think this is the first time that I have posted a picture on this forum.  This is my 1971 Mustang Fastback that I just finished, well except for the rear bumper, the mirrors and the headlights that were too big and I am still trying to figure out the best way to do them. :)  The picture with the engine setting in the chassis shows that pictures will show you when you have missed something.  Don't ask me how I missed that large splotch of red on the pulley, but I did.  It isn't the best looking but I thought I would post it anyway.  Let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Jerry

Very nice build. I had a friend that had that same model but in gold. Oh the times we had...

One suggestion for future builds is to consider using Bare Metal Foil. It is finicky work, but the results are worth it. See http://www.bare-metal.com/bare-metal/bare-metal_foil.html for examples of the kinds of foils and tips on how to apply. Wrapping the window frames with the foil really makes the model come alive. Alternatively you can mask and paint, but the foil looks better.

So long folks!

Thanks bgrigg, I had been thinking about that.  I am waiting on the LHS that I visit periodically to get some in.  I am working on another car that will be perfect for it...a '49 Merc.

Looks good to me. I can't see any trace from hitting the garage floor as you mentioned on the scale modeling forum.

I for one has still to produce the "perfect" model, there always seems to be something that annoys me despite the fact that I'm the only one that can see it or care about it.

Take pride in your builds and try to learn something from everyone of them.

Thanks Niclas.  It is lucky that pictures do hide some defects! :)  I have been learning from some of my mistakes and it has been showing up as a better build.  You are right, we are our own harshest critics.  There are things that annoy me that nobody else sees unless I point them out to them.  Why do I do that!? :)

Looks good JerryApprove [^] I have the same kit & have it about 90% done. I'm doing it up as stock in Blue Metallic Flake & going to give it to my mother since it was her first new car. Dad bought one off the showroom floor in Jan 1971. Mom loved that car too!!

Bare metal foil  hmmm.... Might try it sometimeBig Smile [:D]
