Normally I'm an aircraft modeler but did this fantasy scheme on commission for a guy. This is a 1/24 scale Revell kit that originally was the Lowes Racing Team #48. The decals are mostly my own work printed by ELS Trains. Most of the engine work is Alclad 2. It was a fun build with no serious issues.

That's pretty good for an aircraft guy! Your engine looks superb. Really nice work, maybe you should build some more autos!

Nice build, Matt. It's fun to break away from our normal subjects and try building something different.

Oh, and I don't think that Jimmie Johnson will mind one bit. Wink [;)]

Swanny, you ever do any ships or armor? I'd love to see pics if you do. I love your a/c's too.

Swanny, Even I - who`s never built a car in my life - can see that that`s a fantastic job. I like the decals a lot.

You`ll be pleased to know that your skills haven`t gone to waste as I`ve used a lot of your tips in my heavy trucks.Oops [oops]Tongue [:P]  Have you ever tried your hand at one?

False advertiseing!!! I thought this was gonna be about a Mazda... dang it!

That is a good looking car Matt, but I will point out 1 thing you could have done better (I am getting some sort of weird satisfaction out of this Big Smile [:D] J/K Matt) Normally to make the tires look more realistic, you can sand them down with a sanding stick, which also gets rid of the seam in the middle, but its still a great looking build, and the engine looks outstanding!

Your immeasurable talents with airplanes have obviously carried over in to the auto side of the hobby.  Beautiful work.

This car looks excellent. I would love to learn how to make my own decals, that is a new one on me! I have always used the ones that come in the box, but for a future project I am building my Uncles Shelby mustang GT, wich he races, so there are a bunch of decals and things. Any tips?
