license plates
Posted by Prince of Styrene II on Friday, December 22, 2006 11:51 AM

Hi, all!

Does anyone know the URL for the site where you can make custom license plates?  The one I'm thinking of has all the states, the years & you can type in any numbers for the plate.  I'm trying to finish a Christmas present for my dad of an old chevy C-10 truck he had years ago.

Thanks!

Try this link. I think it's what you're looking for.

Just tried this. Pretty close. The font is not quite Massachusetts' but in scale, it will do. Be advised, though, the plate you make will be displayed for othrs to see and I'm not so sure that's too cool.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

You could easily make an empty plate and copy it to your computer so you can play with it in a picture program if you're worried about privacySmile [:)]

If you're into doing your own with graphics programs try this link for all the source material you could ever want.

They have every state and year as well as Canada, Australia, etc.

You know, I just remembered I posted this thread here.  'Twas a bit of a panic & rush before Christmas to get the model finished & I just blanked!  I got the acme URL from another site I posted the plea on, but thank you everyone for replying with the links!

I'm not worried about a plate number being "reveiled", as the truck is one my Pop owned years ago in Indiana.  I just wanted a little extra bit of detail to add.  I made up a plate number based on the county, plus the current year.  The display is based on the gravel driveway & phone pole "bumper" that we parked against (to keep from rolling down the hill!).  The front grill has been rebuilt with the "bar"- the kit came with a mesh grill.  The orange hazard lights were made in a first attempt with Future & food coloring.  The vertical, white "bumpers" are tube styrene.  The seatbelts were made with masking tape & styrene.  Here's some pics for you:

He was quite happy with it!
