Hunting for specific models
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 11, 2003 3:14 AM
Recently I found that Lindberg made a model of the Dodge Dakota extra cab, i think it was the 1999 year.
It was a snap kit, but thats ALL i've found. They discontinued this model, and as of yet I have found no other companies that make anyting.

I'm hoping either to find someone who has a kit to sell, or a site that might have a kit to sell.

My second hunt is for and this is really vague, a 55 chevy bel air kit, manufacture unknown. I have a model that was built by my father about 24 years ago and some parts have since been lost or damaged. I'd like to restore it. Hood was functional as was the doors and the trunk.

Any help would be appreciated Tongue [:P]

I know Monogram did a '55 Chevy kit but I didn't think it had an opening trunk, not even sure of the doos as I never did buy one. Revell certainly released a '57 Chevy which I did buy. It had opening hood, trunk and doors and the rear windows were movable. Whether they retooled it as a '55 I don't know, but it sounds the most likely candidate.

Sorry, I should have checked ebay first. I found this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3144699145&category=2581

which proves pretty conclusively that it is the Revell kit.

There was also a re-released version there:

Checked for a Dodge Dakota as well bu there was no sign.

Oh, for an edit facility... Sorry to make such a "mess".

I assume that second Revell is a re-release of the first kit.

wow, i should have looked again at ebay. thanks :D.

the first item was the model in question. i know this being some of the frame and body parts are white cast plastic and not black like the reissue.

now my hunt is half way done :D

Revell made all three... a '55, '56, and '57 Chevy, all with doors and trunks that opened. They were pretty advanced kits for their time. I don't know if they are still in production.
