Ok, I have my camera back from the repair shop so I can show you my Christmas gift completed.
This is the AMT/ERTL International Payhauler 350 at 1/25 scale and I really enjoyed the build. The kit is huge and there is a lot of details, I mean everything is there. The engine, the drive shafts, working hydraulic cylinders, cabin interior, etc... The build went on smoothly without major problems except for some ejector pin marks that wouldn't be there if the kit was a today's kit but this is a reissue of an early 80's kit if I'm correct. So we can consider that kit a masterpiece cause the level of detail is very impressive.

Drybrushing with flat black, then slightly airbrush some hull red or flat brown around the brushed area to simulate rust stain on the paint. You'll be surprised how easy it is.
Looks very good, I LOVE the weathering! Pictures look so realistic that you think you are looking at a actual truck.
I only would like to see some dirt that is stuck in the profile of the tires but again, GREAT build. Keep us posted on the next one please.
Thanks for the kind words. I haven't said my last words with this kit. I planned to put this on a base with a pickup truck next to it. I will load it up with gravel and I will dirt it up more also. Mud stuck in the threads of the tires is a nice idea and I will just do that.
That build is not 100% completed but I don't know when I'm gonna finish it so .....

Ha ha! Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure on when I'm gonna finish this. The build of the pickup truck have been very slow lately and I will start my other project in about two weeks. If I'm not done with this pickup before that, it will wait till next summer. But I'll do it.

Actually, I went to a rock quarry not so far away from my home to take some pictures of the equipments that was there. Pretty usefull information and by a pure coinsidence, there was an engine in the repair shop. So I've been able to take reference pictures to help me in the process of adding all the wiring and plumbing. It doesn'T show very well on the pictures but all the hydraulic and pneumatic hoses are there along with electrical wires.
My digital camera was at the repair shop when I built this so I have no "work in progress" picture.

It really shows too. As I said earlier I love how realistic the weathering looks.
BTW, can you finish in 2 weeks, before you start your other project? I am sure there are several forum members that cant wait until next summer

if you where you live you have a back yard take a few pics outside and maybe roll the tires lightly in real mud that would be cool
That's incredible! What a great job! I'm about 90% done with the kit, and right now it's pristine caterpillar yellow, but not after seeing yours! Have never tried weathering, but will learn soon.

I would also like to add my name to the long list of admirers. One hundred percent of my models are in pristine showroom condition and yet, not one of them looks as real as your`s due to the weathering. You say it`s easy to do (I say it`s only easy when you know how ), but I`m going to give it a go. Jim.

Jim, I say it's easier than it looks. Not very easy, but I found it easier than I first thought it was. So give it a try and you'll see. If you don't feel very comfortable with it, get your hand on an older model of your collection or a toy.
