You can easily copy the images from sites like LicensePlate Shack:

http://www.plateshack.com/

into MS Word and resize them in that software to about .5" x .25" for a 1/24 scale plate. If you want to insert your own text, you'll need to use a graphics program to do the job. It's pretty simple work so almost any graphics program will do. I use Adobe Photo Deluxe which is obsolete, no longer supported software that I got for free when I bought a printer years ago. It still does the job but Photoshop and others work too. After adding my text I move the image to MS Word where I always put together the decal sheet for a project. It's really easy to resize and manipulate images in Word.

I just asked this same question to finish a pick-up for a Chrsitmas present.  Try this site: http://www.acme.com/licensemaker/

The earliest date I saw was 1915!  Hope this helps you out!

License plates/various scales

Hi, usually I build A/C, Armored vehicles, and an occasional ship but I've got a few cars needing to be built including a '70 Dodge Challenger (if I can find it), its not just like the one I owned (got a MUCH bigger engine). I've been looking around for a way to print my own license plate decals for these models and for some of my Danbury/Franklin mint models. I've found one or two sites with a lot of images of plates from all the states including really old ones like '30's thru today. Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? My memory is starting to fade with old age so would like to make some of these plates before I forget the numbers on them. I still remember my specialty plates from VA, and FL....Rick "marty" Martin
