Latest in a long row of started not yet finished builds, the 1950 Ford F1.

Hi folks!

Time to show something new again, not very much getting finished. Apologies for that, but I live to build as prio one not finishing:rolleyes:

Revell/Monogram Ford F1 is what it says on the box.

Well, this is what I had in mind when I started the project. At least the stance and wheels.
Lowerd the suspension front and rear by putting the axels over the leaf springs instead of under as per instructions.
Also put a strip of styrene to the rear fenders to widen them a bit.

Had to do something about the inaccurate intake that was provided in the kit.
Some fiddling with different plastic stock and I ended up with a six-carb setup.
A small forrest of Stromberg 97's on top would do the trick to get this thing gallopping.

After getting hints and suggestions from some fellow modelers I opted for this look on the little truck.
The colour is from VW/Porsche, blutorange and was available in the early 70's
Had some problems with bubbles on the front fenders but I think it's sorted out.

Painted the wood with a light beige colour, followed by streaks of chocolate brown feathered out with a dry brush. When dry I put on transparent orange and now it's waiting for the chrome to be put on.

First I thought it would look cool with the engine silver/grey but it was to dull. Some consideration gave at hand that red was the way to go and this it what it looks like now. Still needs one or two more coats of red but it looks far better then in stainless steel.
Looks a bit empty without the intake manifold and carbs.
I shiver from the thought of linking up the carbs to the accelerator Shock [:O]

....and that about sums it up for this time.

Terrific work you are doing there, I like the color,  is it orange????. This would deserve a good article in some magazine.

Yepp!

Orange it is, with a hint of red. Maybe I'll do a write up on the build and try to get it published. Something you would be intrested in maybe? Then you would have two from almost the same location. Thomas Halvarsson is a new friend of mine and I've seen some of his builds in person, I actually bought the paint at his work.

That would be fun to get published at the same site as he is.

Thanks for looking!

Hi!

Look what just surfaced again! Had to dig really deep to find the thread again  Big Smile [:D]
Have been doing some sanding and polishing besides fiddling with the engine.
Put on some of the kits decals but I don't know if they will stay in place for very long. Rediculous little glue on them and warping edges, well we'll see if it works out. Only time will tell.

This is where I'm at with it now, interior is pretty much finished and pictures to come when touched up properly.

It gets pretty filled up between the fenders with the Ardun conversion.

Have to make new headers and exhaust system, other then that it's mostly some detailing left to do besides putting everything together.

'til nex time

Not very intresting as it seems!? But I'm starting to get used to few if any comments.

Anyway, got some more done to the engine, wires will get another colour instead of copper.
Cut off the belts and put on some thin tape instead, looks quite good for the naked eye.

Niclas, I just stumbled upon this. Wow. That is an awesome ride! I've seen some of your work before and I have to say I am very impressed! The engine in this thing is killer!!! Can you share your technique with the distributor? I can't tell if it's aftermarket or if you customized it!

Thank you Smile [:)]

The distributor is the one provided in the kit which I cut flat and drilled out. Then I put some thin brown insulation on the copper wires to simulate what was cut away. Just glued it together with CA-glue. Nothing much to it, just half an hour of not very difficult work. It lacks plugg boots but that's ok anyway I think.

Thank's again.

I've been working on the intake/carb-setup and man was it fiddly!
This is what I got done yesterday, only to late I discovered that the trumpets has to be turned around  Banged Head [banghead]
Anyway, this is it.....

Here you can see the interfernce with the firewall. Well, just to get the 1/25 crowbar and pull them loose again.

Wow... all those linkages.... I'd go mad! Looks like you used ral metal for the trumpets... I think that really sets off the engine!

Thank's, to tell you the truth I almost went nuts myself over this but I just had to try it out.

The trumpets are made from a section of a telescopic antenna, so they are chromed and ready to use. I also use the same material to make exhaust tips and it looks great.

Don't worry about nagging on, I get all responses to this straight in my email. It's always a treat to see something from your bench, Niclas!

Blutorange translates as Blood Orange, which is Spanish dating back to the middle ages.
