Not as long as you think.  I started work in Feb.  Working mostly in the evening, and some weekends.  3 hours per session, every three to four days.

 Wife encouraged me to finish it for the Tamiya-Con.  I knew Tamiya-Con was moved to the fall, but pretended it was in April so I got my butt in gear to finish it.

Super job, great detail!

Would love to have 3-hour sessions daily....

 This is my first super detail attempt on a model.  I usually do just completely box stock, with  the addition of Carbon Fiber decals, or adding the Tobbaco logos.

Unfortunately with the detail kit I can't put the fairing on the bike any more.  So that is why I had to make a display stand for it.

I just used magazine, Motocourse book, and photos I found on the internet as examples.

Here is my display case.  It was taken around a year or year and a half ago.  There has been around 20 new additions to the case since then.

Excellent work there, I assume this is the Tam. model kit..? Having not as yet started this one, is the carbon fibre effect included as decals or an aftermarket addition..?

 Hi Assurgeant.I was about to give you my favorite which I used heavily about 4-5 years ago before I switched to mostly armor dio"s.The site/company was  "detal and design in scale"  .But when I punched them up,They were gone ...? He had everything for bikes,especially G.P. bikes.Can anyone shed any light on them as well as another excellant site ?    good luck

The only thing Tamiya included was the carbon fiber section of the body work on the left and right side of the air intake.  Everything else was careful carbon fiber decal application with decal softener.

Yeah Dave from Detail and design has been running the website on the side.  I think he is working on bringing it back up.  I checked today and I still see the under constructions site.

He did that a few weeks ago too. 

The only other place that I would trust is www.hlj.com.  I found some stuff off of ebay, out of China and Hong Kong, but I really don't trust that.

Although, a little high on the price side, they always deliver if they agree an order. Yet some of the transkits are not overly clear which fits which model.

I love the work that you have done, absolutely amazing. I have been saving up money to buy the Tamiya kit and all the add-ons that I could get my hands on, so far I have spent quite alot, but if I could get anywhere near you build I will be happy.

So far I have only painted the body panels( I used Zero paints for the first time) and made the chain( from Top Studio---MY EYES ahhhh) I will try to post some photos at some point.

 Any tips you could give me would be more than welcome, especially with carbon fibre. Many thanks and keep up the amazing work.

I have been doing some work on the YZR M1 here are some of the parts that I have attempted so far. I am using a combination of Top studio, crazy modeller and studio 27 parts including BBR models carbon fibre decals.

I've done some more work on this build, and i have to say my eyesight is really suffering! I wear glasses and when it comes to modelling now I have to take them off to see!!!! Yep I have been to get my eyes checked out ---but I am at the stage where they say if you can do without them no problem---the problem is once I finish modelling I really have trouble readjusting to having my glasses on, but hay that life.

Here are some photos I have taken:

This shows the 2 bikes I'm building 1 being near box build the other being heavily modifidied.

This one I think looks like a hedgehog at the moment with the extra cables but it does show the built chain.

This is just the modified bike showing the chain a little bit clearer.

This one just shows the back end with chain just in place..

I have nearly completed the near box bike, but the modified bike has got me at a standstill. I wan't to do some more, but time just holds me back or is it just me reaching my limit. It is really frustrating as i have other models I want to build but i will finish this build first. The other models are -----Merlin EH101 modified,Ferrari Enzo, Enzo detailed,FXX,FXX detailed, Yamaha YZR M1 2009 (just got it)

Well, that modified version in particular, where you're flexing your skills, is simply amazing!

When your building something you ask your family what they think and you think are they just saying what you want to hear, but hearing it from other people ---you think YES I'm doing something right. I have to admit reading Finescale and reading the various topics within the forums has really really helped me. I have had problems with decals and decal solutions and the help I got was great. The carbonfibre decals that I had wouldn't conform with the soutions I had , but solvaset THE ultimate in solutions worked a treat and I wouldn't have known it existed without the help I got here. Various other help I had ------you've probably looked yourself and either looked online or read it and thought "of course why didn't I think of that"

This is the front wheel (not finished) with the resin wet weather tyre and photoetch wet weather discs.

This is the box bike with a Minichamps figure - I have another Minichamps that I am cutting apart so that he will be cornering will require a repaint as it was when he was with Aprilla----painful expense but I think it will look better than the burnout figure.

Just to get away from this bike and unwind I built this. My god the errors I made!!!!!! glue marks around the headlights, paint bleed around the front window, forgot to decal the instrument panel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully it wasn't my bike, I'm glad i done the build it made me re-focus.... step back at each step check and recheck.

Took a break from modelling today and had to take my wifes friends bike for a service. It was a Honda VFR800 VTEC, I normally ride a Pan European 1100 (1989 edition) MY GOD did this bike shift, I loved every minute

on it, but I I have got soooooo used to my creature comforts that I couldn't live with this bike (yes the insane grin is still on my face). I have done in the past just over 130MPH on the PAN but that was on what we call a runway dash( using

an airfield runway and go as fast as you can without the law pulling you over--sometimes they are riding with you-----what a buzz ).

Yes I stayed legal today due to wet roads, mud and leaves on the road, but I have to say the exhaust note was AMAZING.

Tonight I will hopefully do more work on the Valencia bike.

Another update on the modified bike. I manged to rework the Exhaust to include the brackets for the  springs then sprayed it . I then used the Tamiya weathering powders before fitting the springs (quite e few disappeared - never to be seen again into the carpet! thankfully there was plenty in the kit!). Once fitted I then instaled the radiator including the radiator cowl. Here we go----

1. Exhaust fitted with brackets, sensors and sprayed

2. Exhaust with the Tamiya blue powder rubbed on.

3. Exhaust with the Tamiya orange powder rubbed on.

4.Exhaust with the Tamiya orange powder rubbed on different view.

5.View from the front of the exhaust.

6.Exhaust in place, with radiator and cowl. sorry didn't take an other photo.

7. Sorry the flash removed alot of detail.

8. Nose on it looks like an alien!

Great weekend for modelling but not for my bank account-------some BA£$%^D used my details and spent over £1300 using my account. I wish I had that amount of money, but my wife and I were going out for a meal which we had to cancel as I couldn't pay for anything! All I can say is watch were and how you pay for things. Fingers crossed my account will get sorted out on Monday.
