Fujimi 1/24 GT40 '68 Le Mans - Any Good
Posted by darson on Monday, April 23, 2007 12:57 AM

Hi there, I'm looking to branch out my modeling a bit and was looking at doing the Fujimi kit of the Ford GT40 P1075 '68 Le Mans.

I was wondering if you guys could tell me is this kit any good, does it build up ok and does it have any real problems that I need to look out for?

Cheers

Darren-this is not the same kit (year wise) but it might be a good indication of the kit you are looking at.

bobbaily,

Your link led to absolutely nowhere!

Darren,

I think there was an aftermarket engine kit made for this model.

There is an aftermarket engine made by Historic Racing Miniatures - I got mine through Strada Sports and although mine is the Targo Florio version it is basically the same and can be adapted to all the GT40s

Sorry all-one too many 'd's.  try www.modelingmadness.com

The GT-40 build was on Monday's 'What's New' link.

Thanks for all the information guys and fwiw I've placed my order for the kit.  It's only going to cost $30 AUS including postage so even if I make a complete hash of things it won't be that much of a tragedy.

Mark and Martin those models look outstanding, thanks for posting.

Mark what colors (brand) did you use for the blue and the orange/red (wheels) on your kit?

Cheers

darson i built this model about 4 years ago so my memory is a bit fuzzy. I know the orange was Tamiya acrylic X-6 it was a perfect match for the orang in the decals. The blue was a powder blue in a large spraycan I bought at the hardware store I believe it was Plastic coat brand.
When in doubt just build it. Mark http://www.ipmslivonia.org/ipms/

Thanks a bunch Jim I appreciate the links although I don't think I'll go with the engine replacement at the moment, this one is going to be OOB.

Cheers
