Ford AA Truck

Nothing I know of in 1/25 plastic, but you might have some luck in Diecast.

In 1/35 there is a Soviet GAZ truck made by (I think) Eastern Express. I have been told this truck was a Soviet copy of the Ford AA.

I bulding this Truck from zviezda kit in scale 1:35 is nice.

I finally dug out the kit I mentioned, it is made by Eastern Express and the truck is a GAZ-AAA. I haven't built it yet but the kit looks decent in the box. The kit I have would actually be a Ford AAA (3 axles) but there is supposedly a GAZ-AA (2 axle) kit by Eastern Express as well. I have also seen these trucks under the Toko and Zvezda brand.

I'm not sure exactly what the relationship is between the various Eastern European model companies but it seems like Eastern Express, Zvezda, Alanger, Toko and a few others share molds because I see many of the same or at least very similar kits being sold under one or more of these companies. 

One odd trait with many Eastern European kits is they generally don't use locating pins which takes a little getting used to.

The Soviets copied everything under the sun from other countries all over the world.  I read somewhere that they even copied the flush toiliet design from the Englishman John Crapper and claimed the disign was THEIR'S.  That method of operation went on throughout the entire 20th century.  The MIG-1, 2, & 3 were copies of P-40's and P-51's in the WW-2 era: their swing-wing designs were copied from the F-111 and B-1.  Lastly, look at their shuttle; an exact copy of ours.  Then they decided to stay with the parachute splash and crash systems. 

The GAZ truck is a Ford in minimal disguise.  Just a little bit of scratchbuilding and you're set.  But, it'll be in 1/35th scale instead of 1/24th or 1/25th.  No biggie; right?  

The GAZ is modelled in different styles--single rear axle; double rear axle;  even a tracked rear system.  They are also available with cargo beds and water / fuel transports.  Squadron Mail Order has them in 1/35th and I THINK 1/76th or 1/72nd.

Silly me!!!!  I JUST noticed your picture is of a RIGHT hand drive truck.  DUUUH.  

Soooo, you'll need to change the GAZ to right-hand drive.

It is indeed right hand drive!  Unlike the those rebellious colonists and their ilk we Brits know which side of the road is the correct one to be on!!
