Where can you find 1/35 cars/trucks?
Posted by IanIsBored2000 on Sunday, July 8, 2007 7:19 PM
I'm planning on building a Technical/Tactical truck (pick up truck with mounted machine gun used by local militia and third world countries) and want to stay in 1/35 scale which is more standard to military accesories, so I cna get the stuff I need.  Problem is, all the trucks I'm finding are in 1/24.  I'm looking for a pick up truck from the late 70's to early 90's.  Anyone know where I could find this?  or 1/35 cars in general since I was hoping to put it in a diorama with a burnt ou/destroyed car.  I know MIG makes all these things, but resin is way too expensive.  Thanks, Ian

Ian,

Testors and Italeri made a Land-Rover in 1/35, which could be a "technical' if you left the canopy off.  I think you would be better off looking in 1/32 scale for civilian stuff.  Revell make a range of 1/32 pickup trucks (Dodge, Ford)  Lindberg also made a lot of 1/32 civilian stuff, which might be getting a bit collectable by now.  Check out gasoline alley antiques for the Lindberg stuff, and Oakridge hobbies for the Revell Kits

I sometimes model old circus trucks and vehicles. I've used many 1/35 and 1/48 scale trucks and cars then build them as circus vehicles. In the 30s thru the 60s and sometimes in the 70s many circuses acquired old military trucks to use as part of their circus vehicle fleet.

Sorry, I didn't read down far enough to see that you already were aware of MIG products.
They look like they might be worth the investment though.

Yeah they do look great, but for the amount of money, I think it would be fun to buy a couple cheap kits and try some scratchbuilding work to get them how I want.  Thanks anyways.
