The kit comes with an alternator/fan pulley system that is not used with this specific kit, so I guess "spare" wasn't exactly the right term.

A GM engine typically has the distributor located at the back in the center of the intake manifold so you guessed right.

I'm not familiar with the kit so what exactly do you mean by spare alternator?

I'm using a 302 taken from the AMT '68 CamaroZ/28 kit and putting it in an old Monogram Fiero.  In the instructions on the engine build it says "distributor not used in this kit" I'm guessing it's just for convenience and not for any real world reason?  Where was the distributor located?  I'm guessing, again, that it was back, center of  the manifold?  Also if I were to include the spare alternator would I run a belt from the lower pully between the block and blower belt?  Thanks for your time, I know next to nothing about the layout of engines except that they run on gasPropeller [8-]
