I had trouble with a 41 Ford woody that I could not get the clear parts to stayed glued to the body with white glue. remembered reading a tip somewhere about glue used by R/C modelers called "Canopy Cement for R/C models" a super thick white glue that solved the problem.

"Can't Talk...Gotta Shoot" was the reply given by Captain Clarence E. "Bud" Anderson to the radio call from 357th Fighter Group leader "tommy Hayes, on July 7,1944, as Anderson lines up behind a trio of ME-109's flying in formation. OLD CROW gets good strikes all over the target bringing Anderson's total claim to 12 1/4 in the air.

If you do have some with glue finger prints. all is not lost. In the finishing section of you LHS, there should be a set of sanding pads to buff out your paint. These go from 800 to 32000 grit. The last is so smooth, you can't even feel it with you fingers. Start with 800, move up through the finer grits. At first, you'll panic that the window is getting worse. Have faith. It will get better. In fact, by the time you use the last grit, it will look better than new. You can use these wet or dry. They are also great for buffing out orange peel in the paint.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Believe it or not, Elmer's white glue. Dries clear, is water soluble and doesn't etch fingerprints into the clear styrene.

So long folks!

Question on glue for windshields
Posted by dabears on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 5:23 PM
I have just gotten back into models after not really doing much with them the past 20 or so years. I have done a couple of cars and I am have a terrible time getting the windshields and other glass (clear plastic) parts to stick without getting finger prints all over them. What is the best glue to use for this? Thanks
