Modelkid,
I was 19 when that car came out and there werent too many cars from 1964 to 1970 that I didnt lust over and pay attention to the smallest detail. I never saw a '69 firebird with a sunroof. Then again I am from the northeast, maybe it was a west coast thing.

The 69 Firebird will always hold a place in my heart. There were a lot of firsts for me in that car, my first car to drive, my first car to hit a 100 in, my first car to wreck, my first car to,,, well that's another forum. My dad had a 69 Firebird when I got my license andhe never could figure out why the back tires didn't last as long as the front. It had the 400 cu. in. engine with a Quadrajet that actually worked right. That thing would scream like a spotted ape. I dated a girl that had one with the convertible top and a buddy had one with the sun roof, but I think he put his in himself. I'll have to ask him next time I see him. That is, if he remembers, we were kids of the 60's so who knows what he can remember. LOL

The guy that was selling the car said that the sunroof was factory instaled by another company that was employed by GM to do special options to cars. (man i forget the name of it)

I've never seen a 69 Firebird with a factory sunroof............
A mate in high school had one - it was the 440 (I think) but I remember it had two little badges that said "6.6" behind the two intakes on the bonnet (you know, the thing that covers the engine), and the bloody thing went like a cut snake. What a monster it was - snap the head right off yer shoulders. Regrettably, the owner got a little "sauced" and drove it into an embankment. And God looks after drunks and little children - but not 1969 Firebirds........

American Sunroof Corporation (now know as ASC) did the steel sliders for the big three. The first factory US sunroof was the 1960 Thunderbird, the next came in 1967 with Ford having ASC do Cougars and Thunderbirds. Never heard of the Firebird but could be.
