Squeakie, how loud was the turbine engine? And did it drive like a normal car? Actually the car was pretty quiet. Seems like it was about as loud as a vacume cleaner outdoors if not a little quieter (remember this was 1962, I think). Also at idle the car was very quiet; you almost couldn't hear it run. The only noise was during acceleration. Thinking back I'm not sure I could even feel it shift gears. How fast it went I can't really say as we only got up to about 35 mph for the three and a half mile drive. Yes it was similar in feel to a normal car of that period, but did accelerate extremely smooth (like it didn't shift gears). It was nothing like a trip in a max wedge car if that matters (now that was a beast in it's day). gary |
