Simulating carpeting
Posted by wayne baker on Monday, October 29, 2007 11:43 AM
This didn't show up in a search.  I may not have used the right terms.  What is the best way to simulate carpeting on the floor?  Does scale matter with the technique?

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

Detail Master does carry flocking in a variety of colours.  Basically you would put white glue (Elmer's or the like) where you want the carpeted area, put some flocking on there, wait a bit then flip the piece on its side, tapping it gently to knock off the excess.  The glue will dry clear and if you make a mistake, it can be washed of with water.

you know one of these days I'm gonna have to try using glue to flock. I have always taped off what I dont want flocked, airbrush a tad heavy and flock befor the paint dries. Maybe the glue would save me a step.

However a side bonus to my method is i get premade floormats. The little raised square they usually get you to set the seat in place. I tape that off as to keep it clean of paint and flock. When I pill the tape up it's preshaped and now flocked. makes good floormats =)

Thank you guys.  It looks like something I'll have to check into.

My way of making a carpet is to use a tissue, just go here and take a look.
