Roadrunner question
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, October 16, 2003 10:55 PM
Who knows if any model company has ever made an early '70s Roadrunner kit? Details would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

i just started the richard petty car, although its the super bird. it could be made into a regular r.r. the kit should be pretty easy to find. it does have some flaws .if you wanted to build the petty version, its decaled for the 426 hemi, but the hemi is not in the kit? go figure. hope this helps some.

Mark, Revell currently has a 70 Road Runner, and did a 71 a few years back. It may still be found at places that deal with OOP kits. Email me, and I'll give you some websites.

Mark, here are 3 links for you. www.modelcarkits.com , www.modelroundup.com , and www.deanshobbystop.com . Hope you can find the 71 Road Runner. I have the 71 GTX kit, which is almost the same, just sand off the GTX markings, and you'd be close, what do you have to trade? I tried emailing you and your address was incomplete. Send me another email, and make sure you give me your email address.

This isn't the year you are looking for, but a few years ago AMT did a 'Muscle Cars' 3-pack with a '68 Road Runner, a '65 GTO and a '66 Fairlane GT / GTA.

hey sled, the roadrunner is coming along pretty good. the engine is done, i went with the stock 440 six pack. after wiring and adding some plumming it looks rather impressive. i got the body together today, attatched the wing and front clip, getting ready for paint by the up-comming weekend. i will start the suspention sometime this week. i was at hobby lobby this weekend and saw the amt 69 daytona, so i grabed it up, got it out today and started the engine in it. let me just say typical amt/ertl junk. lots of flash, engine looks way to small, its supposed to be the 426 hemi, it kinda looks like a small block next to the 440. go figure? anyway i'll try and keep you posted,as for posting pics, i'm relying on lizardquing for that, hes trying to hook me up , i've been sending my photos to him to get one of his buddys to scan them for me. i'll see what i can talk him into?

There is a selection of the 1970 version on eBay

Revell '70

with AMT '70 Challenger R/T

with Revell '71 GTX

There seems to be some variation on price.

There is a 1971 MPC Roadrunner
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3150828705&category=2585

but seeing as there is another that has reached $51 (plus shipping) then that could get expensive.

If you are after some spare parts (it does include an MPC Roadrunner - possibly the '71?) this is worth a look:
