Tamyia F2001
Posted by john0087 on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 7:11 PM

Hey all,

So I have been researching kits for my new build.  if you see my post in the welcome lounge, you will see that I have built some sucessful kits, but nothing to the quality that you all here build.  So I have decided to make it a project for me in 2008.

I was wondering if anyone has built the Tamiya F2001.  I have expereince with their Race cars and motorcycles and I like the detail, but all of my builds have been straight from the box.

 Any thoughts?

Thanks

John,
A guy named Alexander has a bit of a blog about his build of the Ferrari F2001....
See:

If it's typical Tamiya, it'll be worth the money./

Cheers, LeeTree

John, I've got the F-2000 in my to-do pile, and it looks top notch. I assume the F-2001 will be of the same caliber. Good fit, good detail. Good luck!

John, you can comfortably go for the kit and assemble it. I converted one into a BAR and can tell you that the kit practically builds itself. They made some real effort to make it easier on the latter few F1's regarding stuff like rear wing allignment and so on, which used to be a bit of a horror on some of the earlier kits (esp on a first build).

Also, since you won't be familiar with it, watch out for the suspension parts. Press very carefully when "snapping" in the brakes - support the suspension itself and don't just press "against" it, otherwise it will most certainly break. Good luck and show us some pics! And feel free to ask if something looks threatening or unfamiliar!

RadMax8 - the F2000 is a great one too! I've built the solid one, but it was destroyed when we moved house. Have the transparent red one (the Barbie Ferrari!) to do with the SMS PE and templated CF set. Will be a fun project!
