That would be very usefull with pictures of the load, have never seen any in real life and will come in handy for the upcoming build.

The elastic is just the stuff that you can get in the craft section. It comes in different widths that scale to about right for 3" and 1 3/4" hose. I'll have to check the exact sizes I have if I still have any of the boxes. When you use it, just put a drop of Ca and let it dry and pull the elastic snug and repeat the CA. Time consumeing but worth it. Let me know if you need any references on how a hose load should look.

That's looking fantastic if you ask me!

I'm soon in to my first firetruck, a commission build af the the Trumpeter ALF.

Just an OOB build with nothing extra or fancy, looking forward to it!

Back to topic, what exactly are those elastics you've used as hoses? They do look very convincing and it should do the trick for me too if I can find it anyway near. They kind of look like some sort of shoe lace, is that what it is?

Well here are the final progress pics. Once I figure out something for tail lights and build some mirrors she's done. Pump panel sis not come out quite as good as I would have liked, but it is a home built truck inthe 60's so it would not be to fancy. Radio has it's antenna. Everything is now glued into place so no turning back but now just have to see what gets knocked off first.

Thanks mike. The hose is sewing elastic of different sizes. Looks more realistic than shoelaces I think.

Hey Liz,

Great lookin engine my friend!! That is some scratch buildin and I have always loved the engines of the 50's & 60's.

Is the hose made from shoe laces??

Cant wait to see the finished build

Thanks for sharing..

Flaps up,

Mike

Scratch Built 1965 Fire Engine- Final Progress Pics

Been working on this one for a few months now. Here's a quick run down.

This is the kit I got the cab from. Cab and interior is all that got used.

Modified the wheel wells and added one heavy duty chasiss

Scratch built the body and blended it with the cab with Bondo and a ton of sanding.

Upgraded the motor to a Chevy 389

Add some red pint

Interior finished ready for installation

Custom decals from Die Cast and Decals. Very nice to work with and look great.

Could not get the kit bumper to look right with a bumper extension, so I scratch built a new bumper.

And now I am at the point of detailing the tools and accesories.

Hopefully will have it finished soon. Comments welcome as always.
