Ducati Monster [Finished pic's]
Posted by Longbow on Saturday, January 12, 2008 7:41 AM

Hello to everyone in Auto's.............

I'm very new to the board, although I've spoken to a few of the guy's in Dioramas as it's an area I'm keen to explore.

I am however a "Car guy" when it comes to my modelling so thought I'd better stick my nose in and say hello here too!

My bench is pretty tied up with a lot of picky little projects at the moment so nothing very contempory or visual to post, so what I thought was I'd post my most recently completed Auto' build by way of introduction.

Ironically however it's a motorcycle, this is obviously the Ducati Monster but I kit bashed the far more detailed 916 engine into it - I wouldn't ever do - or recommend anyone else to do it ever again.

It turned a great idea into a miserable nightmare fraught with problems and angst - and largely to very little advantage too. Never the less a reasonable build did result and as proof here it is......................

I realise having spent some time exploring the threads on this board that my finish and rendering is a touch below par, but half the reason for arriving here was in order to extend my modelling horizons, and to learn how to express myself beyond the standard ex-works type finishes - which frustratingly I seem to have spent the last 30 odd years trying to perfect!!

Either myself or this hobby really can be quite fickle?............. Smilin' now.

Cheers.............................  Longbow.

Nicely done.  It looks like a 1:1 Ducati to me.  Nice job.

Very nice! Is this the 1/9th Revell kit, or is it smaller? Really nice paint, and the fine details really make it seem life size.

Hi there Longbow,

Beautiful Duc! The bash may have been a pain in the Censored [censored], but the results speak for themselves! Smooth paint, excellent attention to detail, everything seems to have come together fine. Great work on the exhaust welds by the way! I knew from the scratchbuilt diff you showed in your initial post that you were already an accomplished, albeit humble, modeller.

Happy modelling and I can't wait to see more.
