Smoke making HUMMVE
Posted by 7474 on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 3:02 PM
I graduated from AIT in the Army last month. My MOS is 54B, Chemical Operations (NBC). Part of my MOS is to use Hummers with smoke generators on the bed. We have turbines that blow smoke (M-56) and an older one that looks like a cylinder with a cow glands on the back end. I have photos taken, with an M-16 used for scale. I was wondering if any one has any idea on how to scrap build a smoke generator, and how to scale it fit a kit that is out there. I mainly build airplanes, and this will be my first time with a vehicle. thanks.

This could be something for the armor forum. Who knows someone there may have done one just like you are wanting to do.

If you can post a picture of the smoke generator, it'll give a clue as to how one should be scratchbuilt. I've never seen one before.

I'll try to post a pic. I have to find a scanner. I went through Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. I found out that they call it "Ft. Lost in the Woods, Missery" for a reason. Nothing like being in MOPP gear in the missouri summer.
