Thanks Amani. I don't have the steam locomotive, although I would love to have it. I hope you do finish your Christie. I'd love to see it when it's done.

Very cool model indeed. Hey can anybody recommend a good brand for an RV model, something not too small and has a lot of detail. Thanks!!

Shoreline, thank you. The Gallery that held those photos was taken down and replaced with a newer one. I've moved them, now to my Photobucket account so you can see it all built up.  If you're still watching this, here are the pics I had posted before for you to see.

There. I do hope you can see them now and I hope they help you when you start yours. It 9is a fun build, and well worth it!

This is one I have always kept sealed in anticipation of building. Nice to see someone has built one.

Can't view your photos, but kudos to you for the enormity of the project.

David, thanks for the compliment. It was actually easier to put together than I had thought.. My recommendations are these: Paint as much as you can before assembly, and be sure to apply the decals at times during the assembly. Otherwise, you'll have a hard time getting them on amidst all the other parts that will be in the way.

Those are what I remember most. Have fun with this kit and thanks again for the great comment.

Duke,

Great Job!

I have had a Christie model sitting in my "stash" for about 20 years - it is daunting...  I keep toying with the idea of back dating it to a horse drawn steamer, but have to find the time and reference materials for it.  Great job with the entire model, but especially the decals.  Mine look as though they would be a challenge.  I recently found out that  the Philadelphia Fire Department(near where I grew up) had a large fleet of steamers, including the Christie.  Might also consider building it box stock, but making decals correct for the Philly apparatus of that period if I can get the proper reference photos...  How was this kit ot put together?  Great attention to detail on this project  Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the compliment guys. I appreciate them very much.

Don, I'm surprised. Mine looked pretty golden once I got them on the model;. I hope you get them re printed soon.

Octane, I know of only one other.I do have someone working on the missing end piece for mine. He volunteered after seeing my model.

Beautiful!

Mine is on hold with decal problems.  Gold ink should be printed on top of white, but the kit decals did not do that.  The result is that the finished decal looks more like brown than gold.  So I am awaiting finding someone with an alps printer that can reprint my decals for me.

sweet, but  you have to scratchbuild the missing pieces. i was looking to try and work out what was missing, and i think one of the ends of those long black things, right? maybe someone could turn one out of brass.

i think this is the first one of these i've ever seen built.

Yes, I do still have the instruction sheet for the Christie, I do keep all my instruction sheets. It is more like a booklet though. I'll see about getting it scanned in and sent to you. I can't promise when though, but I'll see what i can do soon.

Thanks M60! Glad you like it. And with heat and A/C in your Pierce, I don't blame you for liking it more. In a sense, you could say this Christie has all natural A/C and heat; just not during the times of year you'd want them!!

I'll have a few more armor ready to show in the armor forums soon.

Great job, Duke. But I do prefer the Pierce aerial I work in. Heat, A/C comfortable ride. But that's a fine job you did. And I have always enjoyed your builds over on the armor forum, even if I do prefer 1/35.

Ralph, thank you. You compliments are very appreciated.

I actually used to post more often in the FSM Forums, however most of my posts don't generate much discussion. If you check out my Thread in the General Modeling Forums ("Post what you built in 2007"), you'll see that I'm quite a prolific builder, but most of my work is military. I rarely build cars, and only if they are cars that catch my eye and imagination (Tom Daniel's cars, '39 Deusenberg, any other antique cars etc.)

I would love to show the building sequence for thos model; I still have every photo showing my progress over time. However, that is over 25 photos! If you'd like to see it, let me know, maybe I can PM them to you. As for contests, I am not as confident of this model winning at contests due to the decal issues I had, but given the age and make of the kit, I should get a special award just for getting those decals on the model and keeping them there! LOL!Shock [:O]Big Smile [:D] That won't stop me from taking it to every local contest and showing it though! In fact, this Saturday is a local contest in Pasadena CA where this will be 'unveiled' in public for the first time.

Ralph, this is the MPC 1/12th scale kit of the Christie Fire Truck. I'd heard it was also issued by AMT and that AMT did the decals. This model measures almost two feet long once finished. As far as I know, this model is out of production, but if it does get re-popped, I certainly want another one. Now that I know what to expect, I can do an even better job on it!

Ralph, thanks again for the wonderful compliments. I truly do appreciate it.

I really like the antique vehicles . You have very strong building skills and should post your work more often. It would be great to see the building sequence of this model, the detail work is excellent. It looks like a contest winner to me. What is the scale and the company that makes this fine model?

Thanks for your effort in showing this outstanding build.

As a matter of fact....yes! Big Smile [:D]

Still, when I saw this at San Diego, I just had to buy it and build it. I'd always wanted to ever since I was a kid and saw this as one of the prizes for the MPC Tokens campaign. I was saving up as many tokens as I could get to send for this model, but the folded before I could get it.

Now I got it and it's built! Thanks Aaron for the compliment!!

I don't normally post here since I rarely build cars or trucks (unless they're military trucks) but today I'm posting to show my "Magnum Opus" that I finally finished as part of the "Kick off the New Year" Group Build on the LEM. This model was the first one that ever scared me when I opened the box with the intent to build it over a year ago! This one is missing about 7 or 8 pieces that got lost and can't be found or replaced. However, since all the rest of the pieces are on it, I'm calling this one finished.

And now, without further adieu:

And here's another closeup of the engine under the hood:

I am finally glad that this is off the workbench! I hope you all enjoy this.

Oh, and one other thing: This is my First  Model of 2008!

Thanks for looking and comments are welcome!
