Enzo Ferrrai Kits

I have yet to see any of the above mentioned kits.....but as to address the concerns concerning the Revell kit and the Revell Germany kit....while both will more than likely be similair I believe you will find the Revell(G) kit will require less parts cleanup and will have a better general fit. At least that has been my experience with Revell(G) as compared to Revell kits in general.

I picked up my Ferrari Enzo (Tamiya) for $35.oo at the LHS. In my opinion, even $50.00 is reasonable for that kit, considering the amount of work that must have gone into the injection molding process.

littlemoe, you know where it's at man! Enzos rule. But as for Tamiya vs. Revell, Tamiya all the way baby. I have two of the Tamiya kits and one of Revells. Only the rear cowl opens on the revell. The exhaust isn't nearly as crisp and it doesnt even have the fuel cap or the electronics box opposite! I only got the revell version for comparison. I found out that ther is no comparison. If only the Tamiya version was as cheap I'd be in heaven!

I managed to avoid paying £29.99 ($50) for the Tamiya Enzo. I put in a bid on a Tamiya Enzo on UK eBay and only after winning realised it would be coming from Malaysia. The model arrived undamaged by registered airmail. Box was not perfect (it had been packed in a further lightweight box). Cost including postage was £21.99 ($37) which was a much more realistic price, though still more expensive than the Revell version. Having checked out the Tamiya model I have yet to figure out how to get all the parts back into the box correctly!!

I guess that maybe "why build any other kit" was not exactly how I meant that. Why do we do anything in this hobby?...because we enjoy it. Some may not want too (or can't afford too) shell out almost $50 for a 1/24 scale car kit. My apologies if my question offened anyone. If a person was only going to build one Enzo, my suggestion would be the Tamiya version.

Looking over the pictures of the completed model on the box top and on Tamiya's website, I noticed that they replicated the carbon fiber. It surprised me that when I opened the box there was no provision for doing this. On the website they have a pretty good article on building it and give some direction on how to replicate it with paint. While I was at the hobby shop buying the kit, I noticed that tamiya makes carbon fiber detail sheets for F1 kits. I don't know if they are decals, stickers or whatever else they may be.

Any thoughts on the carbon fiber? Is it worth trying to duplicate? or do you think semi gloss black will look ok?

I think you will find the Revell kits are identical.

I have both the Tamiya and the Revell kits, though I have not built either (only just bought the Tamiya). The Tamiya is of course amazing in terms of detail (over 180 parts - and of course with Tamiya some of their parts are equivalent to another companies "sub-assemblies). The Revell is not so well detailed as only the engine cover is removable. Not sure of the part count but it is certainly lower than the Tamiya.

I ontend comparing the two kits more closely so I will have to get back to you on that.

I plan on building all3, why???? for one, i LOVE Ferrari's, and especially the Enzo, and two, just to be curious!!!!

This way if anyone asks what the difference is, i can tell them with definate scrutiny......

I was at the hobby shop yesterday planning on buying Tamiya's Enzo. I thought of this post and looked for any other offering of it with no luck. So I bought the Tamiya version. After opening the box and looking over everything, I could not imagine that any other manufacture could come close to the level of quality in this kit.

Having just finished Tamiya's Acura NSX and Porsche 911 GT3, I must say that even Tamiya's other 1/24 scale kits are not the same quality as the Enzo. Quite an impressive feat when a company antiquates an entire model line, including its own, with a single kit.

Why bother with any other kit?
