Moses, Welcome to an amazing hobby. I have been building model cars since I was....well for a very long time and you should get many years of great satisfaction building cars. First of all what kind of cars are you into, sports cars, classic cars, hot rods??? You can get a lot of information from this forum and its sister forum scaleautomag.com. The best thing to start out with once you get the kit is the clean up of all the moulding lines, shink holes, and push pin holes, and what not. If you ever enter contest, judges look at things like that. Always wash the parts before painting to get all the mold release off of the parts so the paint will stick. For the body once I sand and fill shink marks and push pin holes Ill spray the body with automotive spray primer you can pick up at any automotive parts store. This will show you if you need to fill areas with putty or if you need more sanding. Take your time I have puttied, primered, puttied, sanded, primered, sanded, puttied, 10 times to get a smooth base for the paint. Then its paint time. Spray cans are the easiest to start with as you dont have to learn how to use an airbrush right off, unless you already own and know how to use an airbrush. I suggest just using rattle cans for now. Heat them in warm water as this helps the atomizing of the paint for a smoother paint job. Start out with mist coats, you want to just mist on the first several coats to just barely cover the primer. 2-3 mist coats, then 20 mins or more after that you can glide on the wet coat.
This is just a very basic rough draft and for more indepth help refer to the forums, or you can email me personally or pm if easier. The best thing is set back, relax and have fun. The hobby should give you years of enjoyment....
