Well we wouldnt have to wait until january....but with the upcoming holidays Thankgiving(my birthday,LOL)...Christmas and new years...I figured it might be best to wait...But Im game whenever anyone else feels froggy. I too got in on the panther group build should have my kit for that by this weekend...

As far as kits to build Im open to ideas...I like Tamiya kits, I dont do motorcycles but anything else...would work. I think everyone interested should suggest a kit then we just post a poll in here to decide which to build.

Ill be back with a kit suggestion

dubix88,

first of all, you don't sound stupid.... no such thing as a stupid question.. (unless it comes from my wife....LOL..j/k)

A group build is when we as a group decided to build a specific genre of model...... examples ....... In the armor forum, they are building a Panther tank, in the community build, they are building a ship (i think)...

Once we decide on WHAT to build, we decide on how to build it.... Out of box, or limited after market parts, full out whatever you want to use, then what types of tools we would use........

then after we decide on all of that, we go out and get, acquire, buy, the model and start bui;ding it.....

you would then periodically post posts in the thread on your progress, any problems you might have, ideas, and just over all discussion on the build.....

This is not a competion, rather just a way for all of us to share a common link in the models we are building.....

You tend to learn alot fromother people this way... also you find out that other people may have the same problems with certain things as you....

It really is alot of fun...

I almost forgot, PICTURES>>>> you can post alot of pictures of your progress...

I hope this helps, and i hope i wasn't to confusing...

Did i cover everything??? Does any one have anything else to add????

check out these threads for an example..

Hope this helps....

Randy,
sneak over to the dark side (armor forum) and look over the sticky posts up at the top.
the 1/16 Tiger and 1/35 Tiger mid production are active builds and the Panther is a build that will start in December.

it is basically a group of modelers interested in working on the same kit (or subject) at the same time as some other folks on the forum.

they exchange ideas, suggestions, troubleshoot, etc.
post pics, advise on progress, motivate and assist each other.
anyone w/ a kit of the subject (or a "family member" of the kit) is welcome.
everyone (regardless of experience) has a chance to learn from the others
and benefit from their input.

check out the builds on the armor side.
it will make sense.
:-)

hey Chris,

how do we get a sticky on a thread??? And how do you do the poll thingy???

Perhaps we should start a new thread for the build??

I was thinking...Indy cars would be cool! I was also leaning towards Touring Cars...Or maybe we could all do one of the new mini-coopers? Ive never done one and after seeing the italian job think it would be a neat build especially for a group build.
Just some thoughts...
Dont be shy jump in folks with what you think would make a good group build.

I'll Start a poll before we start an actual build thread...We'll close the poll on Friday? Then I'll make a group build thread and ask David to make it sticky

I'm game, though I'm usually an airplane guy. I think Jan 1 is a good idea, as it'll allow me time to finish my couple of projects I've got going already. I'd be more interested in a Mini Cooper than I would an F-1 car I think. Besides that, they're neat little cars, and I think one would look cool on my entertainment center. Who makes a kit of the mini? Great idea Chris.

Tamiya makes both the older and the newer version of the mini....I think they are the only ones but not 100% sure.

Maybe if you have room on your payroll, you can hire a bunch of us and we can all stay home and model. Sounds like a good idea to me. Smile [:)]

The old style Cooper does it for me, as I used to rally one and have had the Tamiya rally kit in the cupboard for years.

No earlier than Jan 1st please, it may give me time to complete the 3 Kourus Saubers, Ferrari 312PB, Porsche 956, Wolf, Hill GH1, McLaren M23 and Williams FW07 that I have on the go. Only the Wolf, 956 and FW07 are 24th the rest 43rd. How many kits do people have on the go or am I the only one who can't stafy still enough to complete one thing at a time? Actually I think I also have an Escort RS1800, Lotus 79, Renault started as well!

Dont worry I dont believe we'll be starting this before the new year we just wanted to put it out there for now! I have 9 builds going some slower than others plus Im waiting on my tank for the Panther group build in the armor forum...so that will make 10. That also doesnt include the 3 dozen or so 1/35th Tamiya German figures and Dio Im doing....
