not much goin on so i primed the body. i thought i would go with a yellow primer as it seems like a good base color for the ivory/creme color i'll be painting this car

just sanding out a couple spots, hope to paint it up this weekend since my decals should be here early next week

body is all ready for primer now. i added the filler pieces with "speed holes" on the sides of the front window also, they dont include those in the kits anymore like they use to.

Very nice work James.  Very impressive.

Question about the roll cage-I'm getting ready to convert the Monogram Corvette "Stars & Stripes" to the NART LeMans Corvette and that requires a full roll cage.  Kit comes with a roll bar (I believe).  What diameter rod did you use?  Was it solid?  And what method did you use to bend it.

Thanks.

i use .080 rod, just bend it by hand, and i just go bye the old calibrated eye ball lol

You know, I've seen alot of the super detailed builds with like 500 bucks in aftermarket goodies, and just laden with so much detail you couldn't hardly see it, but to be honest, yours looks far more realistic.  You aren't going overboard with the number of details, but you are sweating the details that are in the details, which is making the difference.  The materials actually look like the real thing, instead of a scale representation you see on the other super detailed builds.  This seriously has to be my first or second favorite detailed nascar build.  MOST impressive.  Almost makes me want to get a nascar kit despite the Toyota thing.  Any information about what you used where for materials would be awesome.  If I do, I'll be using your car as reference as opposed to photo's of the real thing.

thanks man! ive only spent about 10 bucks on junk to detail this build. most stuff is from the dollar store, i did spend 5 bucks on some photoetch but i use them on alot of cars so its worth it it for that

added the Earnhardt bar, pretty much done the interior just need some msd decals for the ignition.

heres the rear end.
I dont bother detaiing the undersides very much as my stuff just sits on the shelf, so i just add a couple things and call it a day

the sheet metal parts are made from tea light candle bases, the heat shield is cigarette foil

Looking real nice ... lots of detail.  What did you use for the roll bar padding?  It looks great.

Im workin on Dale Jr's car from the 2007 Coca Cola 600

did a bit a roll bar buildin during the race today., pretty much made all new bars, the kit isnt very accurate. also removed the molded in oil coolers from the passenger side floor as they dont use them there anymore.
needs  some final sanding then i can prime and paint it up

I will re use the kit crush panels thats why i left those slots in the top of the rear wheel arch.
