Foiled SeatBelts....
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 28, 2003 11:16 PM
Has anyone ever tried using aluminum foil for seat belts??? I'm trying it right now for the first time... I used 1 strand of fine wire for the seatbelt loop, and put the foilbelt threw it... i think it looks ok!! I'll post some pics when i'm done...

Hopefully it should be in the hour or sooooo....

Looks good to me. I've used foil for belts in 1/72 and 1/48 aircraft, but haven't tried it for autos yet...

Littlemoe,

Cool idea! I was looking for an idea for seat belt material myself, I think I'll try this. The Fiat looks great!

I hate to hear about your layoff. My father-in-law just got laid off too. He's having a hard time finding another machinist job, and I think he's starting to get a little discouraged. Hope you're having better luck.

hey idonyknow,

a little tip useing the aluminum foil,

cut a strip twice as big as you need it, then fold it in half, make sure that the shinny side is folded in, and the dull side is on the outside.... makes it a WHOLE easier to paint... found out the hard way....

Thanks for the compliments...

you can't see then in the pics, but i made seat belt loops on top of the seats out of 1 strand of wire.... yaknow, to hold the seat belt in place like a real car!!!
