Nascar Toyota kits
Posted by FastasEF on Monday, March 31, 2008 12:03 AM

Does anyone have a link for where I can purchase most, if not all, of the current Toyotas running in Nascar?

I know that just this last race a few guys switched over to Toyota so I don't expect to find them yet but Tony Stewart, Kyle Busch, J.J. Yelley, Denny Hamlin, Michael Waltrip, Dave Blaney?

(I know, shame shame, watching Nascar and rooting for the Toyotas. I'm a big Japanese car fan and it's not just the Toyotas that drew me in to watching Nascar, the wings and the diffusers are VERY cool looking).

No kits available for the Toyotas. Revell doesn't plan on doing any. Nascar kits aren't selling. There are some resin bodies coming and some diecasts.
When in doubt just build it. Mark http://www.ipmslivonia.org/ipms/

If anyone decides to make a COT kit, all you'll have to do is order decals. They all use the same body style. The only difference is the stickers they slap on them.

Part of the reason NASCAR kits aren't selling is you see only a small number of drivers represented on shs business or that business doesn't want to sell kits sponsored by a company that is owned by someone who ownes the competition.  Walmart, for instance,  You had the#48 and the #24 that is all they would put on the shelf.  It's about corporate politics.  After much studying of business partners, companies they do business with, companies they own, and corporate entity tht owns walmart that owns some other companies, those were the only kits they could sell of the NASCAR subject, without advertising for the competition.  Like people aren't gonna know that other companis exist.  If someone is interested in NASCAR stuff, they are gonna watch it and know that there is competition.  It's like when I worked for Home Depot, I was told I had to remove the Dale Earnhardt Keyring from my key chain, and that I had to remove the Dale sticker from the back window of my truck or I would be fired.  Since one of Dale's sponsors is either Tru Value or ACE, I can't remember which.  So NASCAR kits aren't going to sell very well.  Probably won't be long before we are stuck with diecasts only for NASCAR.  Makes me wish Tamiya would take up making NASCAR kits, but they would have to realize we like engines and opening hoods and probably trunks in our kits.

Mike's Decals has a resin kit of the Impala COT and the Toyota. They are available from Southern Motorsports Hobbies. They require a lot of work and a donor chassis but are worth the effort. I just completed making the Elvis COT raced by Dale Jr. last year.

Well, thanks for the info guys. I might just have to pick up 8 of the newest Nascar releases and just build the interiors up to look like the Toyota's, lol.
