Does anyone make a '50 buick special, or similar?
Posted by IanIsBored2000 on Sunday, April 6, 2008 9:04 PM
Well, hey guys, I'm new to the auto section. I thought it would be nice to make a replica of the four-door hard top '50 Buick special my dad and I are (slowly) restoring, for his birthday. I've never built anything but 1/35 armor so I don't have a clue about who makes what in auto modelling. I think 1/24 or 1/25 are the most "common" scales, right? Anyways, does anyone 1950 Buick Special? If not, what's the next best thing I could use? What are some manufacturers I should look into? Doesn't have to be extremely detailed, since to be honest it's still a bit of a beater right now. Thanks for any help, Ian

Welcome to the auto section.

Models from the 50"s appear to be limited to a very few popular cars and trucks. It's a shame more are not offered. These cars are some of the most interesting ever built. They really build up nicely , check out the 59 chevrolet. Cars from the 60's are possibly more numerous and also are interesting and attractive builds. High power has it's following.

I will keep looking and let you know if I find anything. That Buick project sounds interesting and a great learning experience. Good luck on that.

If are ok with resin you might try Star models

http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/STARModels.html

he stocks R&R and Hendrix and both have a decent selection of '50s cars. I'm not sure what the Buick special is, but you might find something close enough.
