If memory serves, the older Monogram 1/24th 1957 Corvette kit has the fuelie unit and gives the option of building the dual quad 283.  AMT's '63 Corvette coupe kit also has the fuelie, but it may not be the correct unit for a '60.  The '60 units were smooth top.  Here's a '59:

60 units would be similar except for the fins on the plenum.  Here's a link to early Corvette FI units:  http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2000/february/fuelinjection2/fip1.asp

I've seen both fined and smooth top air plenums on Rochester Fuel injection setups. From 1963 and later the plenum is bigger, and think (but maybe wrong here) there is a difference in the was the notches are made between them. I also noticed that the motor in the picture dosn't have the spark plug cable shields (chrome plated). Most Corvettes back then had to have them because of the radio interferance (remember this is "pre" graphite core cables). The fiberglass bodies didn't do much of a job in blocking it out. There's also a different distrubitor used with the fuelie units. It has a cable drive comming off it to drive part of the fuel injection unit (I think it's the high pressure pump but once again don't quote me). It's basicly a tach drive distrubutor, but used for other purposes. I had a 1963 hardtop with a 375hp with a 1965 motor in it for a grand total of three solid weeks. Moved into hemis shortly after that. That's only been about four eons ago!

Thanks for the info Mike.  Very helpful.  And I'll wave as we drive thru Horse Cave on the way to Alabama later this month!

My problem....err, at least one of my problems....is that I'm planning a project ('60 Corvette) and that vehicle was a fuelie.  The kit I'm planning on using doesn't include the stock fuel injection unit.  I've found one kit (AMT '57 Corvette, #31828) but was hoping to find just the unit on the aftermarket.

Thanks again.

that would be the right model of fuel injection unit. If the Corvette didn't come with one in the kit, you probably will also have to round up the fuel injection emblems. Of course you could always go with the two four barrel setup (air cleaner maybe a problem).

Gary-the two four barrels is always an option, but the car I'm wanting to build ran fuel injection and unfortunatly, sometimes I get too caught up in the details. I'm working on tracking down that kit at the moment.

Thanks

there was actually two completely different Rochester fuel injection units used on Corvettes, plus the one used on Pontiac Bonnevilles (1957 I think). They don't look the same. If I remember right the ones from 1962 and later are the ones made different, but that may well be 1963 and later. By the way the one used on the Pontiacs look nearly the same as an early fuel injection unit on the Corvette.
