Battery Cable Tutoria.

Ok here is a tutorial on how to create good looking battery cables.

First thing is first, gather materials.  Pliars that have flat smooth jaws at one point, red and black pain, a silver metalizer paint, and some copper wire of the appropriate diameter.  A pin vice with bit, a file, x-acto, and a paint brush will also help.

First flatten the end as shown here, a section about 3/16 inch long, then fold it back on itself and flatten a bit more.  Then cut and file to shape.  Use the pin vice and drill bit to make a little dimple to simulate the center of the clamp.  Then using the x-acto cut a shallow slit from that dimple to the end of the wire.

Dip the end of the cable into the metalizer paint, and let dry.

Then use your paintbrush to paint the rest of the cable either red or black for the appropriate cable.  You can also add a black was to tone it down and to add depth to the recessed surfaces we made on the clamp.

Here is a pait of finished cables in place in a scrap body I had lying around.  For some added detail you can add a bolt head to where the negative cable attaches to the chassis.
