Tamiya Nissan GT-R ***WIP***
Posted by jezz on Thursday, June 26, 2008 1:35 PM

When this turned up in the post i just had to start it even though i have a few other builds on at the momment i have been unsure about what colour to do it but on asking some peoplei decided to go with pearl white and smoke over the wheels it should look nice and clean im doing this one OOB it should look like this one when finished

First off i primed with halfords white

Then the base coat of zero white for the pearl was layed down and the pearl topcoat was put on

Once the paint was dry i put on some klear and its all ready to polish up in a few days you can just make out the pearl paint it does not show that well on camera but it came out great though

Has anyone got any thoughts on the interior colour i should go with pls

It being a GT-R and all, I would recomend grey or black for the intierior. check out the Nissan GT-R web site for a full walkthrough of the car.

also, keep up the good work!

Some people spend their whole lives wondering if they made a difference. Gundams don't have that problem.

Could go with some class and do a Beige Leather, or 2 tone beige and tan perhaps.

I have done the polishing now and painted the trim on the body thr panel lines i did buy thinning down some black enamel and touching the panel line with the brush and letting the capillary
action fill up the engraved panel lines and once dry i got a soft cloth and rubbed of the excess paint

sorry for the crap pictures i will take some outside on the weekend

Go here and look at the car. Then pick your interior colours based on that.

No offense fant but tan interior is gross. My friend just bought a TT 1993 RX-7 and it has tan interior, we are helping him ditch it ASAP. Bride seats, Nardi wheel and the works.

I'd do either of those. Black is WWWWAAAYYYY sexier than any other color interior. People pay big bucks on older cars for black.

Well, for what it's worth, I like the example of the interior you posted. Even though it's a Lamborghini, the black with white accents would look really good in the GTR.

The body is looking good, too. Is there a panel line wash on it already? It looks very realistic.

I like the chrome wheels. The interior turned out awesome! Now, this just popped into my head, but I think some kind of pattern would look nice on the seats. I was of course thinking that the seats would be fabric, so it wouldn't look right if you want to represent leather. Scale motorsport has a pattern that I thought would look good: Brocade. Probably a little late in the build though, just a thought. You are really moving along on this, not wasting any time, huh?

Can't wait to get me one of these kits.  I love the Skyline's and they're not yet available state=side.  HOPEFULLY I can get more than one but at $40+...

Yours looks fantastic.  I'm glad they at least put some molded engine detail in the kit rather than just curbside.

Actually, they are available state side. People who have had them reserved are getting them first so there won't be any in showrooms for awhile. In last months issue of Sport Compact Car it shows the first privately owned one that's stateside.

I was speaking of the Tamiya kit.  They're not available in the US yet.  I could only hope our local dealership gets one, but unlikely up here in the great white north....

If you want the kit and it's not available in your country check out hobby link japan.  Including shipping the price is going to be about the same.  Jap kits sell dirt cheap in Japan.

Shipping them is what is pricey, but it just about evens out in the end.  I've not personally shopping with HLJ before.  Good reputation though.

I have however done business with greatmodels, evers toy store, squadron and lucky model.  I have had good experiences with all of them.  Best prices from evers toy store by far.  AMT rerelease of the international payhauler was 20 bucks from them awhile everywhere else had it for 70.
