Creating duplicate parts.

I hope I've placed this post in the right forum.

Has anyone else discovered this amazing product called "liquid plastic" it is a 2 part mix ( 1 : 1) you have a work time of 3 or 5  minutes depending on the type that you buy. The detail that it picks up is amazing, it flows like water and looks like egg white will it is active, but once it starts to set it turns white and becomes solid. I have be able to purchase this from a company in Ireland (using E-bay) , they provide all sorts of casting products and I have never been let down with any of their products.

I will try to upload some photos of some test pieces for you to look at.

Is this one of the urethane casting resins?  Originally they were around 2:1 or even a greater ratio.  Most have now gone to the 1:1 mix.  Some are white when cured, some are cream or buff color.  A number of mail-order hobby suppliers carry similar products, like Micro Mark.

The mold design is the key to getting bubble free castings.  Some folks will tell you you need a vacuum pump, but I do not use a vacuum pump and get castings with very few bubbles.

If you try this link :       http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/mb-fibreglass_Liquid-Plastics_W0QQ_fsubZ1256173017QQ_sidZ869123677QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

This will take you to their E-Bay shop and give you an idea of what the liquid plastic is like.

Here are the details for their liquid plastic :

DESCRIPTION: EasyFloLiquid Plastics are excellent for casting decorative objects, production parts, tools, models, duplicate masters and more. EasyFlo systems consist of two parts (A and B) that, after mixing, quickly cure to tough polyurethane plastics. Since Parts A and B are super-low viscosity liquids, they are easy to mix, provide excellent detail penetration, and make bubble-free castings without  vacuum degassing or pressure casting techniques. Rapid demold times make EasyFlo ideal for high-volume, fast-cast applications.

EasyFlo 60 pours like water, so making bubble free parts is easy and fast (2-min working time, 10-min demold).

FEATURES

• Easy 1:1 mix, by volume

• Rapid demold

• Reproduces finest detail

• Tough, non-brittle formula

• Excellent bubble release

• Reduced need for pressure or vacuum

The material sounds very much like Smooth-On's Smooth-Cast series of liquid plastics.

Check the distributor list for sales agents in the UK where you are located.

Check elsewhere on the Smooth-On site for good information on resin molding and casting techniques
