Pantherturm in Italy in 1943-44

A good idea.

I've been tempted- Osprey publishes a book showing the Panther turret emplacement.

OSP FORT 045: German Defences in Italy in WWII by Osprey contains very detailed drawings.

A shame the turret is a hull-less spare.

A Bergepanther (Sd.Kfz.179) would be possible using an old hull but I don't recall if they  were made using only one model hull.

Well the hull has already been put to good use. I used it several years ago to model a late Panther D with night sites. I used a Chesapeake Models conversion turret which left me with the A model turret. I dont have that book but am planning on buying it. May have to put the dio on hold until I get it. I was able to find enough info online to build the bunker but I want to build a decent size section of a defensive trench line

I believe you'll find the book drawings to be very useful as they show not only the Panther turret emplacement but defensive trenches of the Gothic line showing the weapons emplacements used in the positions.

I really feel for the guys who had to go up against those positions even if we did have air superiority.

Last year (?) History Channel had a series looking at various WW2 campaigns that involved Canadian units. (I think the name of the series was "FOR KING AND COUNTRY", though it's not listed anymore - on YouTube? Everything else is!) One of the programs followed the Canadian infantry/armour drive up from Sicily & included some info on these emplacements that I had never really heard about before, a nasty surprise indeed.

I'm not sure I'd want to be IN one of these turrets either though, you're in a steel box in a field that can't move...

Interesting diorama possibilities though, make sure to post some pics as you get into it.
