Scratchbuilt/Conversion Blohm & Voss P.188/02 1/72. Finished.
Posted by Styrene Nut on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 11:01 AM

Thought I'd share some pics of my finished scratchbuilt/conversion BV-P.188/02 1/72. Fuselage was carved from pine, and vacuformed with .040 sheet styrene. Rudder, and stablizer are laminated sheets or .040 styrene, Canopy is vacuformed .015 butyrate. Wings and engines are from the Unicraft BV-P.188 resin kit. Paint is airbrushed Testors Model Master RLM 72/73/65, with RLM 76 scribble. Hope you like it! Dave.

That's beautiful, Dave!

Ever consider putting together a "how to" and sending it to FSM?  I'd be intested in reading about your scratching techniques.

Woah!Bow Down

My buddy Boomerang will like this one! jk jk jk

Anyhow excellent job, the landing gear must be strong to support a pine fuselage. The camouflage turned out perfect for Luftwaffe 46' WIP's (Work in Progress) of your procedures would be greatly appreciated!

Also as said above FSM could use more articles on innovative and original techniques like yours.

I have some built models in Picasa (open to the public), under "Photos by Roxkit". Not all are scratchbuilt,.some are conversions, and some straight out of the box. I left a description of my vacuforming technique in scratchbuilding forum,..its under the title "Question of scale when SB", just to give an idea of how I go about it. I will try to do a WIP one day  (When I can get my you know what together). I have the usual problems most modelers have..life is busy, time is short, and I always seem to be working 20 different modeling subjects at the same time, which actually slows things down! After 40+ years of serious modeling, I still haven't learned to start a model and stay with that one subject until it is finished! Cheers! Dave.
