Styrene Grab Bag assortments?
Posted by New Hampshire on Friday, May 7, 2010 6:50 PM

Hey folks,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a source of styrene strips/shapes (like Evergreen, Plastistruct, etc.) that sells a sort of grab bag assortment?  By that I mean a place that sells a couple of each type size and shape as a package as opposed to buying a package of 6 or 12 of one single size and shape.  I would like to have a stock of varying shapes and sizes for any odd project that might pop up, but without spending a ton of money for a lot of styrene that may get used very little.  Since the hobby shop is far enough away it makes driving out to get a package of one single size and shape just to use a couple inches a bit of a pain.  I figure I could replenish with what I use more often, but still have on hand enough to do odd pieces/projects.

I know it is a long shot, but ya never know until you ask. Big Smile

I'm not aware of any, but I think it is a GREAT IDEA !! I have several packages that I have used one bit or two. I'll be watching this post to see if anybody has a source. If there is no source and there are enough of us interested, maybe we could do it ourselves.

Evergreen does an "Odds & Ends" assortment of sheets, strips, rods and tubes. Item # is 9002.

I have gotten that one, and occasionally my hobby shop has had a small Evergreen bag labeled simply "Trial Sizes" that I've snapped up. All kinds of good stuff.

The only down side is, if you find one shape you really, really like, trying to match it to the exact Evergreen product so you can get a lot more of it.

HI,as has been said,EVERGREEN has the odds and ends packs. I always look out for them just like I watch out for the K and S brass and metals packs. If you can, when you do a build save everything over 1 inch long. By doing this I have amassed two small file cabinets full of plastic odds and ends.I have NEVER regretted doing this.     tankerbuilder
