I have a scratchbuilding problem. I have used wood for most of my scratch projects, but in the last few years I have developed an allergy to wood and sawdust. When I sand, or use a power saw I must use a good dustmask, and I don't like it.
A couple of friends have introduced me to Renshape, but it is so expensive (they make patterns for resin casting so it is just a business expense to them.
First of all, I know that that stuff is urethane. I have heard of folks being allergic to the dust from working polyurethane resin castings. Has anyone heard of allergy problems with Renshape? Would I just be trading one allergy for another?
Okay, if I do decide to work with Renshape, how can I get smaller pieces (I guess it ordinarily comes in 48 x 96 by whatever thickness pieces that cost a fortune. Is there a source for smaller pieces? The only place I have found so far is Caswell Industries (the place that sells those neat brush plating sets).
