I find the tan color of regular hardware store masking tape a good match for many WW2 seat belts. I double it over to get a double surface before cutting it to width.

I looked it up, and I think you're right mfsob, there are not seat cushions, from what I found. There is a headrest, but that's in the kit. I will add seat belts, I'd say 1.5-2 inches divided by 48 and then I'll see how it looks. I think I'll just paint the buckles carefully with silver. Any way, I finished the second coat of interior green, and I'll be painting the instruments and such. I'll tell ya how it goes.

I'm not an expert but, I don't think US WW II fighters had seat cushions - you sat you your parachute pack for the duration of the mission.. Maybe the back of the seat was padded, but the seat "pan" was shaped to hold the parachute. Or I could be completely full of it with misfiring brain cells.

DoogsATX, may I ask how you made the seatbelts? That would be handy, to make it more realistic. Thanks.

Sure thing!

Seatbelts are Tamiya tape cut into strips, painted (Vallejo Deck Tan in this case) and secured to the seat with a few strategically placed drops of CA. I don't rely on the tape's adhesive since it doesn't hold up over time or against sludge washes.

The shiny bits are clipped from some Eduard belts I had sitting around. I picked up their Big Ed seatbelt pack awhile ago, and it's got enough pieces to keep me going for probably 10-15 kits.

I scratched a seatback cushion for my La-5 WIP using a piece of cardboard from the box.
