Don, you are my hero.
I have a friend who built an aircamper with a 65 HP Cont. He's a craftsman for sure and the plane is a beauty. I was there to help him run the engine up the first time and there to help him finish putting the wings on.
I had planned to do exactly what you are doing but in 32nd scale a few years ago but never started the project. I made detailed drawings and took lots of pics of the plane for refs and still hope to get started on the project someday. I had wanted to build it up and give it to him for a gift someday. Let me know if you'd like pics.

The wing is solid basswood, planed and sanded to airfoil shape.  The Piet used no dihedral, so it was easy to make that way.  I will be adding rib pinking tape strips from 1/32 striping tape.  Haven't decided yet if I will cover wing with tissue or not. I will at least have to cover center section where fuel tank is, but may not do remainder of wing, depending on what it looks like with another coat of primer.

Tail is styrene sheet, pinking tape strips already in place on that. Fuselage is, of course, built up, to leave room for full cockpit.

Using jap tissue.  One sheet at 50 cents is enough to do the model several times. Got the fuselage covered, but the two side panels are not the greatest.  Haven't covered with tissue in several years, practice is off a bit, so will redo those sides.  Some wrinkles that I don't think further doping will remove.

The instruments are already there, though hard to see. I keep a file of instruments on my hard drive- photos downloaded from a google image search. I print them out on glossy photo paper after resizing to scale needed. I make a panel face, with holes drilled, then glue the images to back side of panel centered on holes. I have added some micro glaze for a little more gloss.

Thanks for the info, Don.  I like how you make the instruments.  I'll have to try that!

I didn't know dope was still available.  I haven't seen it at the hobby shop in years.  I always had a hard time applying tissue and dope on my stick models.  Either I got wrinkles on the curved parts of the plane, or the drying tissue dope twisted the wings.  At least I never had to run after the model with twisted wings, since it would always come back to me.
